Embrace. Empower. Educate.

Hi everyone!

We hope you are having a great week so far! What a week it has been! Beyonce and Rihanna, Beginners Burlesque, Greatest Hits and tonight a HIIT or Miss Pride Icons special!

Tomorrow (Friday) is going to be extra special as we have another guest host Sandi Plantos, bringing you an amazing Vinyasa Flow Yoga class at 7.45am.

I am Sandi and I am a Yoga Teacher based in London & Essex. I started Yoga in my early 20’s completely by accident when I ended up in a Groupon deal Hot Yoga class back home in Dublin, Ireland. I can’t say that it was love at first sight, yet I grew to like it over the years - Yoga and I had a sort of “on and off relationship, maybe a few break-up’s over the years” and eventually I fell in love with it when I moved to London and the Yoga teachers I met truly inspired me. Yoga challenged me beyond belief as it wasn’t something I was naturally good at, and I was certainly not flexible. It meant that, by practicing Yoga, I would always continue growing and this side of it I adored! The more I practiced, the more I connected to myself on a spiritual and emotional level. I began to slowly break down the walls of anxiety, gaining confidence, finding a sense of focus and purpose, defining my voice, and most of all I was part of an awesome community.
I pursued my first teacher training with Yoga London in 2017 where I trained in Ashtanga Vinyasa. Since then, I have been expanding my training with The Yoga People, training in Mandala Vinyasa Yoga, Rocket Yoga and Yin across London and Thailand.

My classes are strong, focusing on building strength as well as improving range of motion in the body. Expect to work hard yet leave the mat feeling light and open.

I am passionate about Movement and my inspiration comes from yogic practices but also from primal movement, sports, dance and nature. I like to be playful in my sequences, and I invite you to come and embrace the child in you also. I am an anatomy geek and I love to guide you in a way that you truly embrace the uniqueness of your bodies!

We will also be donating £1 for every person that attends the Yoga class to the charity Mermaids so do come along and invite all of your friends and family! Their motto is Embrace. Empower. Educate, which we have seen is needed in all of us right now! A little more info about Mermaids is below:

-

Mermaids has been supporting trans and gender-diverse children, young people, and their families since 1995.
Back at the start, we were a small group of concerned parents sitting around the kitchen table, coming together to share experiences, find answers and look for ways to keep our children safe and happy.

Today, Mermaids has evolved into one of the UK’s leading LGBTQ+ charities, empowering thousands of people with its secure online communities, local community groups, helpline services, web resources, events and residential weekends.

We also seek to educate and inform wider society on gender identity by helping professionals accommodate and reassure gender-variant young people.

Sandi is an inspirational Instructor and we really hope you can come to her class to see for yourself why we love her so much! It will also be great to send as much money as possible to Mermaids so, if you think Yoga isn't for you, this may be one of those times it's worthwhile doing something for a good cause! Plus, it's always great to try new things - for body and mind

She has recommended if you do have them to bring along two yoga blocks (thick books, tins will do), a blanket, a strap / dog leash / rope and of course a yoga mat - but don't worry if you don't have any of these things! She has also created a playlist on Spotify for you to listen to if you wish to have some accompanying music.
