How's your mental health?

Hi everyone

How's your mental health?

We get asked how we are feeling a lot of the time and our response is usually a courteous 'fine' or 'good', or maybe even a 'great' if you are especially happy, but when we are specifically asked "How's your mental health?" we have to dive a little deeper in to our feelings to give an honest, sincere answer.

How's your mental health?

Imagine how much stronger we would all feel if we could freely ask this, and honestly answer...

How's your mental health?

We challenge you to ask 5 people this very question, today. Via message, in person or video call, ask 5 people how their mental health is and see what kind of response you get from them. Be patient, probe gently (if you need to) and also be prepared that it may give them a platform to be really honest with you (are you ready for that?). It's a question that we all need to be thinking about more often, and it's something we regularly ask our personal training clients in their sessions. It's important we set the reminder that training with SMASH London is about body AND mind, and together we create an open space to speak freely. We don't have all the answers, and we never pretend to, but we listen and we sometimes offer suggestions. Mostly though, we talk- and talking is sometimes all you need to feel a little better

Discovery returns!

Mental health is such an important part of our business and community, so we are re-introducing Discovery sessions LIVE via Zoom! These will be 30-minute sessions where we will discuss mental health topics and offer top tips and ideas to strengthen our health, in body and mind. We will make this an open space for anyone to share their thoughts with the rest of the group, just as we do in our regular Discovery sessions. As always though, your presence is enough and no participation is required other than showing up and having an open mind to new ideas and thoughts.

When are they?

Tuesday 14th April 12pm - Isolation and the effects on mental health.

Thursday 16th April 6pm - Social Media and it's effects on mental health.

Zoom invites will be sent out next week! Are you excited about this? We hope so, because we are! Please share any topics you would like us to cover in future Discovery sessions. We are a community and this is a great way to all come together to share best practice and make talking about our mental health something that is valued, appreciated and necessary. We are all in this together

If you have any questions about Discovery, please ask!
